The Art of Braiding course is designed to certify students to suit the states’ requirement of licensing for braiders. This course is also open to anyone that desires to learn a new skill; this course will be censured by a certificate. The students will be taught the theory and practical part of the art for up to 100 credit hours, and up to 300 hours of additional personal practice. That is a total of up to 400 hours. We identify 3 different certificates based on the level of hours received in training, and also depending on the goals that each student desire to achieve. Braid Technician certificate (20 hours): Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to have a good understanding of the different styles, and will start acquiring the necessary confidence to complete basic braid project. This course is mainly theory, with minimal braiding practice involved. Braid Stylist (90 hours): Upon completion of this course, the student will not only have confidence in completing a braid project, but they will also have an understanding of sanitation issues, and the structure of the hair. Professional Braider (100 hours): This course is designed for braiders that desire to braid in a licensed beauty shop and who desire recognition by the state as a certified professional braider. Classes cover all seven portions of the curriculum.
